Neighborhood Comes Together To Help Man With Cancer
One man has been a holiday staple in his neighborhood for a looooong time. However this year, whether he'd like to admit it or not, he needs some help...
I came across an article this weekend about a real life Clark Griswold in Napersville, Illinois. Now you're probably thinking, "Well there's a lot of those kind of people this time of year." While you're absolutely correct, I can argue that there aren't as many who have been doing this sort of thing for over 3 decades! Which brings me to Rick Tarulis:
For the first time in 35 years, there aren't any lights shining in the front yard of the Tarulis' household due to the fact that Rick has been diagnosed with head and neck cancer and he can no longer put in the 14 days required to turn his yard into a winder wonderland.
His daughter Rebecca Lewis is pleading with the community to come together and help keep the tradition going. She knows it's going to take an army as there are thousands and thousands of lights and decorations that fill her dads basement.
Although he's hesitant to accept any help from strangers, Rick knows he must let it happen so his 1-year-old granddaughter can see the house lite up with all the lights.
UPDATE: While this video was shot 2 weeks ago, I recently checked the event on Facebook and sadly it looks as though Rick's health has halted any decorating on the house. My hope is is that he feels better enough to reschedule any future events to help make this happen!
Feel better Rick!
