If you’ve driven anywhere in Rochester lately, you've seen construction workers,  cranes, and orange cones. Everywhere you look, there is road construction and new buildings popping up, which is exciting and frustrating all at the same time.

A curious listener reached out to ask what is going up in the lot right next to the new/old Cub Foods in Northwest Rochester.

I say new/old because that Cub Foods building is practically brand new, it just opened a couple of years ago. I say old because the grocery chain already pulled the plug on this location earlier this summer.

It's not a joke this time. According to building permits, the building popping up next to the former Cub Foods is... a Chase bank.

How Many Banks Are There in Rochester?

Curious to know, I did a Google search and found the Med City currently has 49 brick-and-mortar financial spots. There are 36 traditional bank branches and 13 credit union locations in Rochester.

Up until now, Chase Bank could only be found in the Twin Cities area. Soon, you’ll find one right in front of the former Cub Foods, just down the road from Costco—which happens to be in the middle of its own massive construction project.
