One of the things I really like about Rochester is all of the restaurant options we have here. And I moved here from the Cities!
The big difference between Rochester and the Cities is that Rochester has a huge variety of food all within our city limits. In the Cities, you might need to drive 30-45 minutes to get to a restaurant like some of the options we have here.
Hoping to Shake-Up the Restaurant Scene in Downtown Rochester, MN
The downtown area has restaurants that are all kind of the same vibe lately. I love them, don't get me wrong, some of my favorite restaurants are downtown. But they aren't everyone's cup of tea and many of them aren't the most affordable places ever.
That's where this new restaurant comes in. The owners are hoping to shake things up and bring something that I think is needed in the downtown area.
This new restaurant will be opening in the former 507 Public House location (which was The Half Barrel before that).
New Sports Bar Coming to Downtown Rochester, MN
The new restaurant is called Lucky's (the full name is Lucky's Bar and Grill. When I heard 'Lucky's' I automatically assumed this was a Lucky's 13 location coming to town. Lucky's 13 has a few locations throughout Minnesota.
But no! Lucky's Bar and Grill is totally different and it'll be owned and run by a name you may recognize if you've been in the area for a while.
Familiar Face to Open New Rochester, MN Restaurant
One of the owners of Lucky's will be Michael 'Harpo' Vogal. You might recognize that name because he used to work at Dooley's and McMurphy's. He retired a few years ago but his business partner, Jacob Simons, got him back in the business to open this restaurant together.
Lucky's is going to be a sports bar with affordable prices. There's going to be a bunch of new TVs to watch your favorite team and they're working on revamping the space right now.
The menu will feature your usual sports bar suspects like burgers, wings, and pizza. They also plan to have their kitchen open until midnight, which is amazing. There are so many places that close early and you can't find a place for food late at night. They also plan to have music and dancing on the weekends.
I think this restaurant is going to be a great addition to the downtown area. The plan is to open Lucky's in early February.
