Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Mayo Clinic today announced a new leadership team for its diagnostic services programs.

Dr. William Morice has been named the CEO and president of Mayo Clinic Laboratories and Mary Jo Williamson has been selected to serve as the organization's chief administrative officer. A news release says the leadership positions also cover Mayo's other diagnostic services in "the biopharma and cardiovascular spaces."

"Dr. Morice and Mary Jo are strong executive leaders who will continue to evolve and grow the Mayo Clinic laboratory, biopharma and cardiovascular diagnostic areas as part of our 'Bold. Forward.' plan to transform health care by extending Mayo Clinic's diagnostic knowledge and expertise," says Gianrico Farrugia, M.D., Mayo Clinic's president and CEO.

The news release indicates the leadership announcements are linked to Mayo Clinic investments in the "future of diagnostics so it can strategically build partnerships with external healthcare professionals and connect patients through remote diagnostics."

Dr. Morice has been the chair of the Mayo Clinic Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology for the past seven years. He has also served as president of Mayo Clinic Laboratories. Williamson is moving to the new leadership post after serving as chief administrative officer for Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She was previously the top administrative officer for the Mayo Clinic Health System.
