Oh, fer cryin' out loud... a new survey has just ranked the accents of all 50 states, and our Minnesota accent didn't fare very well.

Do we have an accent here in Minnesota? You betcha! But while we may not notice it all that much, it's there-- and it's not very sexy. At least, according to this new survey of the Sexiest Accents in the U.S. from Big 7 Travel.

Now earlier this year, that same group ranked the Sexiest Accents in the World. And while our Minnesota accent didn't make that list, the Canadian accent actually came in ranked #13 (and I argued that since we're so close to Canada, that our Minnesota accent, don'tcha know, could have been ranked 13th too.)

But now, though, all 1.5 million of Big 7 Travel's readers ranked the accents of all 50 states. And they weren't very kind to the accent we tend to use here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. In fact, they ranked our Minnesota accent as the third least-sexy in the country. That's right, we're #48 out of 50 when it comes to sexy accents. Really? Did they only watch the movie 'Fargo' and figure that's what we all sound like here?!?

So who's first? Well, that'd be the folks down in Texas, who ranked #1 in the survey. The Boston accent was #2, followed by New York, Maine and Chicago. The only two accents that were even less sexy than ours, the survey said, were the New Jersey and Long Island accents.

Heck, even my home state of Wisconsin (with its Milwaukee accent) ranked higher than us, coming in at #29. Meanwhile, the standard Midwestern accent (which the survey said included Iowa and Nebraska) was ranked 16th.
