While Rochester and parts of southeast Minnesota didn't get quite as much snow as other parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin, anytime we get this much a snow... in April... it's noteworthy. But, of course, it's not the first time it's happened.

Sure, we all remember that freak snowstorm of May 2nd, 2013 that dumped over a foot of snow on the Med City. And, seeing as this is Minnesota, there have been countless other late Spring snowstorms too.

But how weird is it that ANOTHER April blizzard happened in Minnesota-- on exactly the same date? But that's what happened Saturday here in the Bold North.

Though not here in southeast Minnesota, other parts of the state, like the Twin Cities and most of southwest Minnesota were upgraded to blizzard status for Saturday's storm. And, if you check the National Weather Service records, the same thing happened exactly 35 years ago.

That's right, over a foot of snow fell across portions of Minnesota on April 14th, 1983 as well. (And that late spring snowstorm is famous for, among other things, deflating the Metrodome, too.) Check out this Facebook post KARE-11 shared Saturday, showing a young Minnesotan and her mom in 1983, and now her as a mom with her young daughter during this weekend's storm.

If you're like me, it's tempting to think this weird weather we're experiencing this weekend is a relatively new phenomenon. (Though this April HAS been noted as being the coldest in Minnesota history so far, with high temperatures 19 degrees below average!) A quick check of the weather records (and this cool KARE 11 video) shows weird spring weather in Minnesota is anything but new.
