When We Can Expect to See Peak Fall Colors Across Minnesota
I've already started to see some trees changing colors around southeast Minnesota! While I'm sad summer is gone, I have to admit that even though fall is short I think it's officially my favorite season. One of the reasons is all of the beautiful fall colors.
While some trees are starting to change, many are still their usual green. So when can we expect to see peak fall colors across Minnesota?
Thanks to Smoky Mountains, I was able to figure out when fall colors will be their brightest in different parts of the state.
Peak Fall Colors in Northern Minnesota, 2023
For the northern part of Minnesota, as of September 18th, there are some partial color changes going on. But then at the beginning of October, the northernmost part of Minnesota and also the eastern tip down through Duluth will be at peak fall colors. The rest of northern Minnesota will hit peak colors around October 9th.
Peak Fall Colors in Central Minnesota, 2023
As for central Minnesota, right now, middle of September, there's some minimal color changing going on. Then, around October 9th, the north central area will be at peak colors. Then the rest of central Minnesota will follow with peak colors hitting around October 23rd.
Peak Fall Colors in the Twin Cities, 2023
For the Twin Cities area, there's also minimal color changing but more is coming! Peak color will be reached around the end of October. Except for towns along the Mississippi. Those will reach peak in mid-October.
Peak Fall Colors in Southeast Minnesota, 2023
In a couple of spots in southeast Minnesota, we've got a few trees changing but not much. Peak fall colors will be seen starting in mid-October for the towns along the Mississippi, then continue to spread through southeast Minnesota through the end of October.
Peak Fall Colors in Southwest Minnesota, 2023
And finally, southwest Minnesota is the last area of the state to change colors. Currently, there's pretty much no color changing going on just yet. Peak fall colors won't arrive until the end of October, Smoky Mountains predicts October 30th.
And fall wouldn't be complete without a few spooks! You could spend the night in this St. Paul home. It may be haunted...
