I love summer and all but nothing quite beats a cool fall day in a cozy sweater looking at all of the beautiful leaves changing colors. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hate that fall leads to winter, but in the moment, fall is an amazing time of year.

Northern Minnesota is starting to see some leaves changing color already, so when will it be our turn? The Minnesota DNR is out with their Fall Color Finder so let's see when they expect fall colors to peak in SE Minnesota.

Why Minnesota's Fall Colors Are Expected to be Amazing this Year

There are predictions that our fall colors are going to be amazing this year, the Star Tribune is even saying maybe the best in the country.

AccuWeather meteorologist Chad Merrill spoke with the Star Tribune about it and said,

Fires, droughts, punishing heat and drenching rains will mute colors elsewhere in the nation ... But copious sun-drenched days combined with just enough summer moisture have set the stage for a brilliant display here.

When Will Fall Colors Peak in SE Minnesota

According to the Minnesota DNR's Fall Color Finder map, our trees in SE MN should start to change colors this weekend already.

By the end of September and into the first few days of October our trees should be hitting around 50% of their color change.

Peak fall colors, they're predicting, will be around the third weekend in October. By the last week of October we'll likely be past peak colors.
