Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Chatfield man won’t be going to prison but he will have to pay a significant amount of restitution for leading authorities on a wild chase in a stolen pickup.

31-year-old Scott Tester, who now has a Minneapolis address, earlier pleaded guilty to a second-degree assault charge through a plea agreement that led to the dismissal of 5 other felony charges, including 2 counts of first-degree assault. During the pursuit on December 29th, 2018 Tester put two Rochester Police squad cars out of commission by ramming them with the stolen pickup. The chase through a residential neighborhood ended when Tester crashed near Century High School.

He was given a stayed prison sentence and a jail term that matched the 179 days he has already served since his arrest. Tester was ordered to serve 5-years on probation and was ordered to pay just under $20,500 in restitution.
