Later this month we're going to be treated to something very special in the Minnesota night sky. So make some plans, and dig out your binoculars or telescope if you have one because this is going to be pretty cool.

At the end of February, we're going to be treated to a somewhat rare moment in the sky. NASA says it's not SUPER rare but it's not a common occurrence so this is going to be something you won't want to miss.

When to See All of the Planets in a Line in the Night Sky

We are going to see something called a planetary parade or planetary alignment of seven of the planets!

Most nights, as long as the weather is good, you can see one planet. But to possibly see all seven is wild.

In case this sounds familiar, January and the beginning of February have been great for seeing four planets all together: Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars.

But as all of the planets continue their orbit around the sun, we're going to get a different view in a week or two. Sometime between February 20th and 28th, 2025, if you have the right tools and the right viewing spot, you could see Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Mercury.

How to See All of the Planets Lined Up in the Night Sky

CBS News says that the best day to see all seven will likely be February 28th but if you're really hoping to catch it, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that week.

NASA says the best time to look will be right after sunset. When you go out to look for the planets "you’ll find Venus and Saturn in the southwest, Jupiter high overhead, and Mars in the east".

At the end of the month when all seven will be visible, Saturn will be quite low on the horizon and so will Mercury. You'll likely need something like binoculars or a telescope to see them and that's if the land around you is flat enough.

As for Uranus and Neptune, they're so deep in space that you'll definitely need some sort of help from binoculars or a telescope to have a shot of seeing them. Neptune should appear near Jupiter and Uranus will be near Mars.
