Minnesota’s Best Chicken Sandwich Is Back After a Year Away
For most of this year, if you wanted a taste of what is now considered Minnesota’s best chicken sandwich, you were out of luck.

That’s because back in January, this beloved chicken joint abruptly closed all four of its Twin Cities locations.
For nearly a decade, the restaurant had been the go-to spot for Southern comfort food and, most famously, its fried chicken. Fans were stunned, and the heartfelt goodbye message on Instagram confirmed it: the local legend was gone.

Revival didn’t just serve fried chicken; it helped ignite the “hot chicken” trend in Minneapolis. At its peak, waits could stretch for hours, and lines wrapped around the block.
So, when the January closure happened, it felt like a gut punch to anyone who had ever bitten into their perfectly crispy, juicy chicken.
Behind the scenes, the challenges of running a restaurant, even one as popular as Revival, finally caught up. The goodbye post thanked customers for being the “heartbeat” of the place and promised they’d always treasure the memories.
Food Experts Say Revival Has the Best Chicken Sandwich in Minnesota
But now, the sandwich that once drew block-long lines is making a comeback. And not just any comeback, it’s returning with a fresh accolade.
Lovefood.com just crowned the returning Revival as having the best chicken sandwich in all of Minnesota.
Here’s what they had to say:
“This beloved former restaurant has changed ownership and turned into a thriving food truck business touring events across Minneapolis. It specializes in Southern dishes and fried chicken, and its chicken sandwich has always been the star of the show. A simple yet delicious combination of fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and a pickle, it's utterly mouthwatering. Most people suggest having it Tennessee hot, rather than Southern style, for an extra kick.”
I remember the first time I went to Revival years ago and it was definitely one of the best fried chicken experiences I had ever had at the time.
The Return of Revival
Thankfully, that farewell turned out to be temporary. Jester Concepts, a well-known Twin Cities restaurant group, stepped in and purchased the Revival brand and all of its recipes.
