Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - As advertised, the storm system that moved through the region this weekend produced some impressive rainfall totals.

The National Weather Service says the preliminary total from Friday afternoon through 10 AM Sunday at the Rochester Airport is around 3.6 inches. That includes the 1.12 inches of rain that were recorded on Friday, the 6-tenths that fell Saturday night and at least 1.9 inches on Sunday.

The rainfall totals during the 24 hours preceding 10 AM Sunday range from 2.8 inches in rural southwest Rochester, just over 1.8 inches in downtown Rochester, to just over an inch in Byron. Almost 2.7 inches was recorded in Ostrander, around 2-inches fell on La Crosse and just over 2 inches was reported in Lake.

The heaviest rains yesterday and last night hit areas of northeast Iowa, which also saw strong storms on Friday. The 24-hour total in New Hampton Iowa was over 4.5-inches, while over 3-inches of rain was reported near Decorah, Osage, and Elma Iowa. There were numerous reports of flash flooding in northeast Iowa, particularly in Chickasaw County in the New Hampton area.
