Rochester City Council Asked To Annex Gamehaven Park
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A popular area park may soon be an “official” part of Rochester.
The City Council is being asked to start the annexation of Gamehaven Park.
The 460-acre site is located on the fringe of the city’s southeast border and under the management of the Parks and Recreation Department. A construction project now underway at the site includes installation of sanitary sewer, water main and electrical service and other improvements.
The Parks Dept. is proposing the annexation:
“To serve the park with municipal services the property does need to be in the corporate limits. Additionally, having the park in the corporate limits clarifies the response of emergency services to the park as well. Discussion of the potential to annex only a portion of the park or all of the site has occurred with the Police Department and it is their preference to annex the entire property.”
News update: Rochester now has an official arson dog.
