Last week, we put out a challenge for the Rochester Community. We asked that you help us make a difference in a cancer patient's life by helping her celebrate what could be her last birthday in the best way possible. Well, friends, y'all came through in bigger ways than I could possibly imagine making sure Josie didn't have to celebrate alone this year. Thank you for taking the time to make her birthday supper special! I wanted to give you an update on Josie and how things went.

I went on Friday (Dec 7) morning to drop off some goodies, but she wasn't feeling well enough to take visitors. While there, folks had already started to drop stuff off. Later that evening, I did receive a follow-up email from one of the nurses at the hospital. She said Josie had around 100 visitors on her birthday and got even more gifts. It had to be super overwhelming getting showered with love all day. Josie put out this video thanking everyone for their generosity.

Not only did individuals like you take the time to brighten Josie's day, we even got word that the entire Lincoln Elementary school spent the day making cards to deliver to Josie! Local businesses also stepped up and got items donated. It's been amazing to see the Rochester community come together to make a difference in someone's life. Josie posted these pictures of some of the things she received.

Following her birthday, Josie shared the news that she was in remission, however, a recent update she posted to her Facebook page on Thursday said that she is no longer in remission and cancer has returned to her spine. Josie says she has made the decision to return home to Michigan and spend her remaining time with her family under hospice care.
