Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police arrested a man early Thursday after he reportedly assaulted two men, using a hammer in one of the attacks.

Officers were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Marion Rd around 3:30 AM but the man had fled. Officers were told 23-year-old Keagan Johnson-Lloyd got into a confrontation with a 61-year-old family member and started swinging a hammer at the man. The man used his arms to block the blows and then fell to the floor. The victim says Johnson-Lloyd began kicking him until a 51-year-old man at the residence intervened. Johnson-Lloyd began assaulting that man and then took off on foot.

Officers found him several blocks away and arrested him.

Johnson-Lloyd was sentenced to prison for a bizarre incident at a Twin Cities area hospital in 2015.

He was at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids for a civil chemical dependency commitment when he created a wild scene. According to a report on the incident, he was able to obtain a syringe and began jabbing himself and squirting blood at nurses and other staff. One nurse reported getting blood in her eyes and was concerned because of Johnson-Lloyd’s history as a heroin user. He also tried sticking the employees with the syringe before he was finally subdued.

He was given a 19-month prison term for that incident.
