Rochester Man Threatens To Kill Himself at Mall of America
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A rural Rochester man wanted for a domestic assault incident was apprehended at the Mall of America - after threatening to kill himself.
Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Scott Behrns says the incident took place at a residence in the 300 block of 55th St NE around 6:00 AM Monday.Behrns says 28-year-old Denzell Richardson choked a woman with both hands until she blacked out. Behrns says the assault took place while there were three young children in the home.
Richardson was gone when deputies arrived. They were contacted later in the day by the victim. She said Richardson had called her to say he was going to kill himself by jumping off the third level of the Mall of America.
Officers there were able to arrest him without any problems and Richardson was turned over to Olmsted County authorities.
