Whenever I take my car in for service, I always end up chatting with Dan, and we talk about everything. He always asks about my family and how work is going. We'll complain about the weather and about Minnesota sports, but there's one topic that always stood out to me.

Now and then, Dan would mention his cheesecake. At first, I figured it was just a dude talking up his cooking skills, but over time, I realized this was different.

Each time he brought it up, I could hear the passion in his voice and see the pride in his eyes. I could tell cheesecake was more than a hobby for Dan.

I never asked to try his cheesecake because I thought that might be weird, but as I'm writing this, I'm thinking I probably should have. He would’ve taken it as a real compliment.
