Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man wanted in the brutal beating of a Rochester woman was apprehended over the weekend.

Capt. John Sherwin says officers received a call early Saturday concerning the whereabouts of 24-year-old Lawrence Chatman. He was found at the same residence where police say he held a woman against her will and beat her over a period of a few days.

She was able to escape last Tuesday and was treated for injuries that included broken ribs.

Chatman fled last week when officers arrived - and he tried getting away again during Saturday’s arrest attempt. This time he was caught after a Taser was used to subdue him.

Chatman is facing eight felony charges from the assault case. Sherwin says Chatman and the woman he assaulted had an earlier relationship but the woman recently obtained a no contact order due to domestic abuse.
