Rochester Police Capt. John Sherwin: ‘Be Aware of Your Surroundings’

Rochester police are advising citizens to be extra careful after three assaults have been reported in the last week. Rochester Police Capt John Sherwin joined Dunken & Samm to talk about the easiest way to minimize your chances of being a victim.

All three incidents involved young women. In the first two cases the female victims were struck on the head and grabbed by their necks in attacks that occurred along the busy streets in different parts of the city. The third incident involved a 16-year-old girl who says a man tried to grab her.

Sherwin says the Rochester Police Department is concerned because there hasn’t been a report like this in four years and suddenly, there have been three in one week. He says there are similarities in each of these incidents.
