Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Police surveillance of a man considered a "person of interest" in connection with a recent shooting in Rochester resulted in a significant drug bust late last week.

Rochester police Lieutenant Mike Sadauskis says the 30-year-old man's name had come up in the investigation into a shooting in the Andover Apartments parking lot on June 23rd that left a man with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his upper back in the leg. After he was observed leaving a residence Thursday afternoon, police stopped the “person of interest in a vehicle along South Broadway and requested a search warrant for it and a residence at 560 28th Street Southeast.

The man, later identified as Trahern Pollard, was released but his vehicle was towed away to be searched. While nothing was found in the car, police did find approximately 50 grams of heroin in the apartment listed in the search warrant and evidence that allegedly linked the drugs to Pollard.

He was taken into custody on Friday when he returned to the apartment and is being held on 1st-degree drug sale and possession charges. Sadauskis says the estimated street value of the heroin is around $50,000.
