Rochester Restaurant Thai Pop Featured on ‘Twin Cities Live’
Rochester restaurant (and one of my personal favorites), Thai Pop, was featured on the TV show 'Twin Cities Live' earlier this week.
'Twin Cities Live' airs, well, in the Twin Cities area weekdays at 3 PM on the ABC affiliate, KSTP. The owner and chef of Thai Pop, Annie Balow, did an interview and food demo showcasing why her restaurant has become a go-to destination in downtown Rochester.

Annie was on the show on Monday, June 29th (if you missed it, we've got the interview below).
KSTP writes that Thai Pop has "earned some seriously impressive recognition". *flips hair* Yeah, we know, we've got great food in Rochester.
Thai Pop has won the Star Tribune's award for best Thai food in Minnesota and Travel and Leisure's award for the best bar for mocktails in the entire country. So yeah, "some seriously impressive recognition" is accurate!

During the interview, Annie talked about wanting Thai Pop's food to be authentic Thai food. She said that people were originally worried that it was all going to spicy food but that's not the case at all. "We want to make sure [when] they come to Thai Pop ... we cook for them just like [if] they come to eat at my house," Annie said.
The craziest part of the interview to me was when Annie said when she moved to Minnesota 15 years ago, she didn't know how to cook. She said she watched YouTube videos, would call her family to ask about certain recipes they had. And now look at her! That's amazing!
As for the food portion of the interview, Annie made her famous Annie's Toast dessert for hosts Ben and Liz. She also had her Khao Soi Curry and No-Quila Sun Burn mocktail.
