Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester woman who was trying to get away from a police officer Monday ended up driving through a long stretch of freshly poured concrete.

Police say the 53-year-old woman turned onto 7th St NE while fleeing an officer, drove through construction barriers for a road project near N. Broadway, and then became stuck after driving through 150 feet of fresh concrete.

Capt. Casey Moilanen says the woman was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation and could face charges - and a big bill from the contractor, who estimated the damage she caused at $30,000 to $40,000.

Moilanen says the woman has been the source of numerous complaints in the past week over her erratic driving and use of a bullhorn, often yelling she is “spreading the word of God.”

An officer spotted the woman running a stop sign and yelling through the bullhorn Monday afternoon and tried to pull her over. Moilanen says the officer decided not to pursue her when she refused to stop.

Another officer tried to pull her over an hour later and that’s when she drove into the construction zone - and fresh concrete.
