Get Fresh, Local Produce in SE Minnesota this Fall with a CSA

What the heck is a CSA? CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.

When you buy a CSA membership, it's like you're buying a portion of a local farm. Your money goes directly to the farm and you get fresh produce from the farm once a week or once every two weeks, depending on the plan.

My husband and I first tried a CSA membership in 2020 and we loved it!

If you're thinking this may be something you're interested in, there are a few CSA programs in SE Minnesota that have fall shares that you can purchase soon.

CSA Memberships in Southeast Minnesota

There are quite a few farms in SE Minnesota that do summer CSA programs, that's the most common. But those are already well under way. That's why I want to featured the fall programs today, because sign ups for those will be coming up soon.

I love that CSA programs allow you to directly support a local farm, you know you'll be getting fresh produce each week, and you're eating food that coincides with what's in season. Maybe I'm a nerd, but I think that's so cool.

Fall CSA Memberships in SE Minnesota

There are only two farms that I could find who do fall CSA memberships. Those farms include Earth Dance Farm. They're out of Spring Valley and you can purchase their fall share right now for $275. It covers 5 deliveries every other week from the end of October to mid December.

The other option is Featherstone Farm, which is the farm that my husband and I get our summer and winter CSA through. And speaking of the winter CSA, technically they don't do a fall CSA, but their winter CSA starts in October, so I thought it made sense to include here.

Theirs also starts at the end of October and is delivered every other week, but since it's a winter share, it goes through mid February. The winter share costs $410. Sign up for this option will be available in August.

Also, when I say the shares are delivered, they aren't delivered to your house, they will be delivered to a location that the farm has partnered up with and that's where you'll go pick up your fresh produce.
