The Satanic Temple, which had never successfully placed a monument on public land in the United States, announced last week that it had received permission to erect the monument at Veterans Memorial Park in Belle Plaine.

Lucien Greaves, a Satanic Temple spokesman, told the Washington Post that city officials offers not resistance. He explained the group which is based in Salem, Massachusetts does not have evil intentions. “It’s not about being shocking or upsetting the locals, though it’s an inevitable byproduct.”

According to the NY Post, The monument is described as a “black steel cube with embossed inverted pentagrams with inlaid gold on four sides. An inverted helmet rests on the top of the cube. A plaque on one side of the cube reads: ‘In honor of Belle Plaine veterans who fought to defend the United States and its Constitution.”
