Now that Star Wars is back in theaters and on top of the box office, someone asked Mel Brooks if he was working on a sequel to his classic Spaceballs. Know what he said?

Film director, J. J. Abrams has successfully relaunched two popular sci-fi franchises: Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek, and George Lucas' Star Wars. Word is, Abrams is a Star Wars fan himself, so he's moved from the future, to "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."

Legendary comedy director, Mel Brooks, 89, has confirmed that he is inded working on a sequel to his classic, Spaceballs. The film is tentatively titled Spaceballs: The Search For More Money, and will may start filming early next year, hopefully, with most of the original cast.

I loves me some Mel Brooks movies! Who doesn't quote either Blazing SaddlesYoung Frankenstein or High Anxiety? I've tried quoting Silent Movie, but...people just tend to stare.

As excited as I am about a Spaceballs sequel...

I'm kinda hoping that Mr. Brooks adds a few new faces to the Spaceballs cast.

John Candy, who played Barf, the Chewbacca parody, died in 1994. Dom DeLuise, Pizza the Hutt, died in 2009. Joan Rivers, the voice of 'droid Dot Matrix, died last year. Dick Van Patten, King Roland, passed just this past June 23rd.

So...basically, the original cast that would be returning would be

Bill Pullman's Captain Lone Starr. Pullman is 62...and will be in theaters next year reprising his role as President Thomas Whitmore in the Independence Day sequel.

Daphne Zuniga's Princess Vespa. Since it is NEVER (never, ever, ever, ever, ever) appropriate to reveal a lady's age, Vespa is a mature classic. The One Tree Hill and Melrose Place alum spent 2015 on VH1's Hindsight.

Dark Helmet, 62-year-old Rick Moranis has been on an 18-year hiatus from Hollywood, raising his two kids following the 1991 passing of his wife, Anne, from breast cancer.

Hopefully, Brooks will take a a page from J. J. Abrams notebook and add a few fresh faces to the cast, like maybe Patton Oswalt, Kevin Hart, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Can you think of anybody else that should join the cast of a Spaceballs sequel? Help me out with that in the comments.

More importantly, what other Mel Brooks films deserve a sequel? "My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives," on what films I'd like to see a sequel for. Let's compare notes...
