New NFL Promo Featuring Taylor Swift Sparks Outrage [Watch]

The 2024 NFL season officially kicks off on Thursday night (Sept. 5), with the Kansas City Chiefs facing off against the Baltimore Ravens in Kansas City.

But as excited as football fans are for their favorite players to hit the field, many sports enthusiasts are vocally up in arms about a just-released season promo video.

New NFL Promo Highlights Taylor Swift Among Football Clips

Pop megastar Taylor Swift seems to be the not-so-subtle star of a season teaser posted by the NFL on social media. Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, shows up five times in the :28 montage (watch below).

That's more than Kelce and his teammate, leading quarterback Patrick Mahomes, combined.

It's important to note that the NFL leans hard into celebrity in this series of clips: Dolly Parton also makes an appearance, as does R&B superstar Usher.

Swift's dominating presence in the teaser has sparked some outrage among social media users, though, like from this guy, Jake, who writes:

CBS host Nate Burleson isn't one of those upset over Swift's NFL takeover. He didn't hesitate to retaliate with some scathing remarks for critics of the league's latest marketing move:

"Get out of your feelings. Oh, are you upset? You’re a little mad because Taylor Swift is in the promo? Who cares! Wipe the drool off your tank top, put some pants on, and get out of your mama’s basement. I don’t understand what the big deal is. Every other sport can show celebrities at the game. We show Taylor Swift and you get in your feels! Man, get out of your feelings and watch the game."

Things are already getting heated, and kickoff for the 2024 season hasn't even happened. This should make for some great television — Swift included — when the season gets rolling.

Swift recently wrapped the European leg of her Eras Tour and has a handful of shows in North America scheduled to round out the year. Her schedule allows for her to be in the stands, rooting for her man Kelce at many games.
