Eyota, MN (KROC AM News) – It was the real thing. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday reported the suspicious device found in Eyota Tuesday was an explosive device.

Capt. Scott Behrns says the 20-ounce plastic pop bottle was found on Center Ave. Behrns says a fuse was inserted into the cap and the words “caution explosive” were written on the bottle. He says it’s not known what materials were inside the bottle.

Behrns says under the right circumstances, the device “could have caused bodily harm and/or death.”

Behrns says the St Paul bomb squad safely detonated the device and the remnants were taken for further evidentiary testing.

Behrns says it’s not known who left the device on the road or when.
