Not long ago, I was doing a pet adoption event with Paws and Claws. Those events really get me, because of course, I want to take home all the animals. While snuggling one of the cutest puppies, one of the volunteers told me I should adopt her. I joked that I already had more pets than allowed in Rochester. Her response blew my mind:

"You have 9 pets?" Wait, what??!

Clearly I was way off with the number of pets I thought were allowed in Rochester city limits. I had four animals living in my house at the time - yes, a small zoo in my opinion. ;)

According to the city ordinance website, "No person shall keep nine or more multiple animals over the age of six months within any household in the City of Rochester. The term 'multiple animals' means two or more cats, dogs, or ferrets. Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, no person shall keep six or more dogs over the age of six months within any household in the City of Rochester."
