The caller said the truck then drove off without the ATM and was found parked nearby when officers arrived. They learned it had been stolen. Damage to the machine was estimated at $1000.

Two hours later police were contacted by the Mayo Clinic credit union office near the south Target store. An ATM had been ripped off its base and all the money was gone.

Surveillance video showed a pickup truck with three men inside yanking the ATM around 6:00 am. Two men got out, grabbed money from the machine, got back into the truck and drove off. Damage to the ATM was put at $50,000.

Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says it’s possible the thieves are part of a group that has been linked to about a dozen recent similar ATM thefts in the Twin Cities.
