Diehard Vikings' fans had a rough Sunday. Minnesota kicked off its regular season with an embarrassing loss to the Green Bay Packers at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The final score was 43-34, but the game wasn't that close. It's impossible to predict how the season is going to go based on one lousy performance, but if they don't figure out how to stop the pass it's going to be a long year, which actually might mean a better Christmas for you.

71% of men surveyed by Sears say how well their football team is doing dictates the amount of time they'll spend buying gifts for Christmas. According to the survey, men spend less time shopping when their team is doing well. So a horrible season should mean a better Christmas, but the tradeoff is every Sunday in the fall is miserable. I think I'm the exact opposite. I am more generous with my time and money when my team is doing great.

In other news, Yahoo! Sports conducted a survey that revealed that the average fantasy football player spends 4 hours a week getting their team ready.

  • - 16% of fantasy football players would give up sex for the entire season to win their fantasy league
  • - 19% of fantasy football players would give up their cell phone for the entire season to win their fantasy league
  • - 39% of fantasy football players would give up beer for the entire season to win their fantasy league
