Winter Isn’t Over: Midweek Storm Could Dump Heavy Snow in Minnesota
Parts of Minnesota experienced record warmth on Friday and rain and thunderstorms on Friday night. Despite the spring-like vibes, winter isn't over.
Don't pack away your snowblower and shovel just yet, the National Weather Service says more winter weather is on the way.

Our stretch of pleasant warmth comes crashing to an end midweek as a potent winter storm moves through the region Wednesday into Thursday morning.
When Does Spring Start In Minnesota?
The Farmer's Almanac says, "We celebrate the first day of spring on March 21, but astronomers and calendar manufacturers alike now say that the spring season starts on March 20 in all time zones in North America."
The spring season is March 20th through June 20th.
Winter's Last Stand in Minnesota
The NWS in Lacrosse says a significant storm will move through the region on Wednesday, March 19th, and Thursday, March 20th.
The areas that do receive the heaviest snow have the potential to see 6+ inches.
On Sunday, The National Weather Service said it is still too early to predict which areas will get the heaviest snow. (See the probability map below)
Travel could be impacted by snow and visibility issues caused by strong winds. Monitor for updates and adjust plans as needed.
The biggest challenge remains where the heaviest snow will fall given the narrow nature of the snow band and temperatures lingering near the freezing mark. In addition, strong winds may accompany the snow, possibly resulting in near white-out conditions and tree/powerline damage.
