One of the perks of my job (or so I thought)  was going backstage for "meet and greets" at concerts.  Pretty early on in my career I learned how much of a joke these are.

The idea of a meet and greet is pretty cool.  The idea is cool.  9 times out of 10 the actual meet and greet stinks.  Going in you're probably thinking there's going to be a lush backstage area with food and drinks and comfy couches to sit on while you hang with the band...  Wrong!  Typically you have to wait in line for a really long time and you usually only get to "meet and greet" for about 2 seconds.  Most of the time you're hurried up to a backdrop, you get a quick pic and a handshake, and then you're pushed out the door so the next person can get their pic.

Most artists charge anywhere from 300-400 dollars for a meet and greet and you can usually tell how much they hate being there!  300-400 bucks for a two second interaction!?!  If I spend 400 bucks to meet someone there better be a happy ending...LOL.
