Yesterday afternoon it was still pretty nice here in southeast Minnesota. We were slowly winding down from some of the warmest February weather on record and, in fact, we missed all-time highs on a few days by only a couple degrees...
Those of us who live here know it's cold in Rochester. We live through it every winter. We plod on, through the icy cold winds of December and January and the surprise blizzards that can strike in May. But just where does the Med City rank among the coldest cities in the country?
Those of us who live here know that there are a lot of good reasons to call Minnesota home. Sure, it's not perfect. Mosquitoes and never-ending winters are a few aspects of our fair state that some people don't like. But, it turns out more people are wanting to move here than move away - by quite a large margin!
On Monday (January 30), Kevin Hambly, who served as the Rochester-based Minnesota Chill's assistant coach, was named Stanford University's Director of Volleyball. It may be hard to believe but February marks the 15th year anniversary of the Minnesota Chill's lone season of existence. It was a season that provided a lot of fun and excitement for Rochester-area volleyball fans and ended with the Chill claiming the only-ever United States Professional Volleyball title.
Sitting by the window, staring out into the snow. It just keeps falling. But, in reality, it's kind of beautiful, isn't it? And inspiring. In fact, it inspired several of our on-air personalities to write Haiku poems about it...
