Facebook has announced that they're doing away with the “other” message inbox.

The "Other" box is where messages from people who aren't friends with you end up - chances are you never check it.

Facebook is replacing it with a message request which basically means that random creepers will have to get your permission before they send you a message.

David Marcus who runs Facebook Messaging says, “The rule is pretty simple: If you’re friends on Facebook, if you have each other’s contact info in your phone and have these synced, or if you have an existing open thread, the new messages from that sender will be routed to your inbox,Everything else will now be a message request, minus spam attempts that we will continue to ruthlessly combat.”
