Over the weekend, I discovered my new best friend - a local food prep class. Whether you're a busy mom, or you're like me and totally can't cook, this will be a lifesaver for you, too.

I joined some of my gym rat friends at Hy-Vee on West Circle Drive. They have a room called the Simple Fix room next to the deli. Truthfully, I didn't even know it was there. Lined up on the table were recipes and ingredients. A chef guided us through the meal preparation. One by one, we put the meals together in a freezer safe bag or pan. You're not cooking the meals, you're just putting them together so when you get home, you can throw it in the crock pot or oven. It takes the thinking out of meals.

"We do the shopping, take care of all the dishes and even take out the trash! You prepare the meals and take them home to cook at a later date" according to their website.

I don't mind cooking, but I feel like I run out of ideas. I find myself constantly making the same few things. So far, I've cooked 2 of the 6 meals that I prepped, and my family loved them. Can I just go to that class every week?

There is another workshop coming up very soon. Click here for details.
