One of the many hot button issues surrounding the Trump administration is his tough stance on illegal immigration. Protests have popped up all over the country, including right here in Rochester.

With the reported enhanced rules coming down, we've started to hear stories about "roundups" of illegal immigrants in some cities. It certainly sounds like enforcement efforts are increasing around the country.

There have been rules on the books for a long time, but many of them have not been regularly enforced and some cities are resisting calls to follow the laws more closely.

Olmsted County Attorney Mark Ostrem was asked about it Wednesday on Rochester's Good Morning. Here's what he had to say about the subject...

Ostrem said there had been some efforts in the past, but have backed off in recent years. He said he's the pendulum is swinging right now, but he's not sure where it's landing.
