We just gave a lucky listener a trip to Chicago to see Taylor Swift. While talking about the trip, it brought back some bad memories of my last Chicago trip. Let me share.

This trip was so hyped up. Two of my girlfriends and I spent a fortune to go see our favorite band, Evanescence. From the beginning to the very end of the trip, we had issue after issue.

It started in Winona where we parked our cars and waited for a train. It was the first time I'd ever been on a train, so I was super excited.

I'm really not sure why I would ever be excited for the longest and most boring ride of my life. The train was SUPER late. So not only were we about to sit on a train for six hours, we ended up sitting in the train station with NOTHING going on for what seemed like a lifetime.

FINALLY we arrived in Chicago. The last time I had been there was as a teen with my family. I, of course, hated it when we visited, but I wanted to give it another chance since I was just an impatient, small town girl at that point. Unfortunately our first view of Chicago after getting off the train was CONSTRUCTION. The hotel app said our room was walking distance from the train station, except the app didn't take into account the lovely construction happening all around the station. We ended up having to walk through a freaky tunnel AT NIGHT, and probably ended up walking a good mile out of our way just to get to the stupid hotel, which also was NOT impressive.

I did make it out to a Cubs game which was a blast, seeing as I had never been to Wrigley. Unfortunately our seats sucked and my friend ended up getting sick so we didn't get to soak up too much of the beautiful day.

The next day was the big day. Time to FINALLY check something off the bucket list. I had been dying to see Evanescence since 10th grade. We arrived extra early - FAIL! We ended up lining up on the wrong side to get in the door. It was freezing cold outside and raining. I had just a light sweater since it was August at the time, and I had definitely not anticipated this "beautiful" weather.

As the night went on, the weather got worse and worse. At once point I remember it feeling like hail hitting me in the face. I thought for sure they would cancel, but they just kept going through the acts. Then the music stopped, a guy got up on stage and said "no more." Um, excuse me sir, but Evanescence is next and I'm already standing in a foot of water freezing my ass off!

We spent the rest of our time in Chicago calling the ticket company and getting our money back...

What was your wost vacation ever? Does it top mine?
