Gyms can be intimidating, with row beyond row of random machines. A list was put together to help pin point the best, or in their words "only machines you need to use at the gym." See if you agree.

I was kind of surprised because the list did NOT include any cardio machines. It was put together for people who don't frequent the gym, but want a full body workout. It promises to give you that with only five machines.

The list came from Thrillist Health, and they say "to help you navigate this confusing world, here are the only contraptions worth your time during your next gym sesh."

Several trainers from around the U.S. gave their input. Here's the list.

    Rowing Machine

I guess I never considered this a cardio machine, but according to one fitness manager, it helps burn calories.

Garner Pilat, fitness manager at Orangetheory Fitness in Brooklyn Heights, recommends it because it's a low-impact way to get your whole body moving, plus he says it burns a lot of calories.

    Leg Press Machine

You didn't think you'd get through an entire workout WITHOUT legs did you?

Trainer Courtney Paul recommends the leg press machine because you can use it to work out a wide range of leg muscles. It also lets people who have had back or lower body injuries get a lower-body workout without having to do traditional squats, which can be bad on those injuries.
