The filters you use on Instagram might say something about the state of your mental health.

Researchers from Harvard and the University of Vermont teamed up to study Instagram users and found that people who post photos with dark or faded colors are more likely to be depressed.

The study found that people who showed signs of depression posted photos that were bluer, grayer, and darker. Those people were more likely to us the "Inkwell" filter, as well. That filter makes photos black-and-white.

Researchers said people who weren't depressed tended to use filters like "Valencia", which lightens photos.
