Deer Hunt Underway in Six More Rochester Parks
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester bowhunters are now able to bow hunt at nearly a dozen locations in their own backyard.
Bowhunters can now hunt all 11 parks made available for this fall's bowhunting season through a partnership involving The City of Rochester Parks and Recreation Department and the Rochester Archery Club. Hunting in the following parks opened for bowhunting on October 15:
- Foster Arend
- Hadley Creek Golf Course
- Bear Creek
- McQuillan
- Essex Park
- North Zumbro natural areas from Recreation Center to 37th St. Northwest
Hunting has been allowed at Willow Creek, Gamehaven, South Zumbro Trail natural area from 16th St. Southwest to Mayowood Rd., Indian Heights and Northern Heights since September 17. The bowhunting season in all 11 parks ends on December 31.

Officials say the hunt is in response to increasing public concerns about Rochester’s urban deer population, saying there were over 200 deer-related vehicle accidents reported in the city last year. The parks and trails where hunting is taking place will stay open, however some areas may be closed off.
