Minnesota’s Fastest Growing Town Saw Population Boom of 61%
If you had to think about which cities or towns in Minnesota are growing the fastest, you might immediately think of the biggest cities, like Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, Duluth...
Yeah, they're already four of the biggest cities in the state, but people do keep moving to them.
But there's one once-small town that's a suburb of the Twin Cities that is now the fastest-growing town in the state. Their population growth over the last 5 years is CRAZY.

Dayton, MN is the Fastest-Growing Town in Minnesota
Have you ever heard of Dayton, MN? It sounded familiar to me, but I didn't know anything about it or where it was on a map until now.
Dayton is a northern suburb of Minneapolis, directly north of Maple Grove. Dayton is officially the fastest-growing town in our state.
Why? Because from 2020 to 2025, the population went from 7,431 to 11,974. Their population more than doubled in 5 years!
Dayton has been a quiet, rural town in the middle of developing suburbs for many years. But now, people have discovered Dayton, and the population change is showing it.

KARE 11 writes that from 2020 to 2050, it's projected that Dayton will see a 131% population growth to about 16,700 residents by 2050.
Of course, that's a massive change. With that comes a lot of construction, a lot of new housing, and some of the long-time residents don't like it. Totally understandable! One minute you're living in a small, quiet town, the next, you're surrounded by new housing. I'm sure it's shocking.
It'll be interesting to see how Dayton continues to develop and if the long-time residents will decide to embrace it or not.
