Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man accused of intentionally ramming his car into a moped has pleaded guilty to a felony charge.

29-year-old Daniel Lara today admitted to a charge of criminal vehicular operation involving driving under the influence and resulting in substantial bodily harm. A second-degree assault charge was dropped through the plea deal.

Lara was arrested in late July after a man was struck by a vehicle while he was getting off a moped, causing the victim to fly onto the roof of the vehicle before landing on a lawn. Court records show the victim suffered a concussion, along with multiple abrasions and lacerations.

A home surveillance video showed Lara swerving at the man and then running over the moped before driving across two lawns without slowing down after the vehicle struck the victim. The criminal complaint says investigators learned the victim was at a party the previous day and was attacked by several people after getting into an argument. The charges also stated the man had reportedly been involved in a confrontation with Lara while holding a gun.

Lara is scheduled to be sentenced on February 8th.
