Fire Wipes Out Freeborn County Home
Clarks Grove, MN (KROC AM News) - A rural Freeborn County home was wiped out by a fire over the weekend.
It was reported around noon Sunday near Clarks Grove.
Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Tim Bennett says the home belonged to James and Maryalice Hanson. James Hanson was the only one there when the fire broke out.
He told deputies he had started a fire in the fireplace and later noticed a haze inside the house and then the smoke detectors activated. Hanson went outside and saw smoke coming from the roof and called 911.
Bennett says it appears the fire started in the chimney near the roof.
