Minnesota’s July 4th Law: Violations Could Lead to Jail Time
The Fourth of July is my absolute favorite holiday, and I've got my fingers crossed for perfect weather because I'm excited to spend the day celebrating with friends and family.
We'll be playing yard games, drinking cold drinks, and eating delicious BBQ food. Then at night, we'll gather in the backyard where we have a perfect view of the city's fireworks.
If you're out celebrating too, please stay safe and be smart about Minnesota laws.

Can you imagine getting booked, fingerprinted, and having your mugshot taken while wearing your ill-fitting red, white, and blue tank top? Seriously, you could get a big fine or even be tossed in jail for violating the Fourth of July law.

The only legal 'fireworks' in Minnesota are sparklers, those little cones and tubes that emit sparks, and novelty items like snakes and party poppers. Those are cool for little kids, but most of us want to see big, bright explosions in the sky. Unfortunately, those kinds of fireworks are a big no-no in Minnesota.
A lot of people drive over to Wisconsin to stock up on the big stuff, but that could end up costing a lot of money.
Nothing will ruin your holiday weekend faster than a big fine or a trip to jail, so just be aware that Minnesota has some seriously strict penalties for smuggling fireworks into the state.
