Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It appears the Rochester area has received about 5 inches of snow so far and more is on the way.

The morning commute will be a slow one, although motorists won’t have to worry about school buses as classes have been canceled in most districts. The afternoon commute could be dicey because it is expected to get windy, which could produce blowing and drifting snow in rural areas.

Higher snowfall totals are being reported in extreme SE Minnesota and SW Wisconsin. Totals from those areas reported to the National Weather Service early Tuesday were 7 - 8 inches.

More snow could fall into Tuesday afternoon with another 2 - 4 inches in the Rochester area.

More than a foot has been recorded at the Rochester airport since last Tuesday.
