Slick conditions will develop across Southeast Minnesota today (1/16) as freezing rain moves in from the south.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse says, "Freezing rain was moving through northeast IA and will be pushing into southeast MN/southwest WI early this morning. Expect slippery roadways. If traveling, slow down and use extreme caution!"

The Weather Channel says the freezing rain will start in Rochester late morning and continue throughout the day before changing to a wintry mix this evening and snow tonight.

Travel will be dangerous today. If you must travel, allow yourself plenty of extra time to reach your destination safely.  The Minnesota State Patrol recommends packing an emergency kit for you car. Click here to see the 16 things that should be in it.
