Are you guilty of constantly grabbing Q-tip after Q-tip and digging deep in your ear canal to clean out that annoying (and gross) earwax?  Stop!  It could be damaging your ear drum!  Here are some safer methods to try instead...

Ack, I'm so guilty of this!

The link above provides more information on the do's and don'ts but one trick that was mentioned in the article is a similar thing my mom taught me when I was younger:

Mix together a concoction of water, white vinegar and rubbing alcohol.  Then place a couple of droplets into your ear and let it do it's magic for a couple minutes.  When finished, tilt your head to allow the liquid to drain on a cotton ball or wash towel.

There are also mineral oils to help in the aid of getting rid of earwax.

The thing you have to remember is that while earwax is disgusting, it also serves a purpose in keeping your ears "clean" by collecting dust, dead skin cells and other nasty stuff... so really, you also actually need it in there!

But if there is a ton of it and it's becoming troublesome, then you should probably contact your physician.  Whatever you do, DON'T scrape deeper with a Q-tip or try candling as that could severely damage or rupture your ear drum!  OUCH!
