LoveFood's list of the best pizza places in America includes an award-winning Minnesota pizzeria that has earned a well-deserved spotlight.
Pizza has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a simple street food in Naples, Italy, to a global sensation with more varieties than ever. New York mastered the foldable thin-crust slice, Chicago made deep-dish iconic, and Minnesota introduced its signature thin-crust, square-cut style.
But the pizza place we’re talking about today is in a league of its own and was even featured in a 2022 episode of 'Chef's Table' on Netflix.

Minnesota's Young Joni Named One of America's Must-Try Pizza Places
Located in Northeast Minneapolis, Young Joni was created by James Beard Award-winning chef Ann Kim. The restaurant is known for its bold, globally inspired flavors and, of course, wood-fired pies.
"When I decided to make pizza, I refused to stay in my lane," Chef Kim said in the Netflix episode. "My food is loud and bold and spicy. I just played by my own game, sharing who I was through food."
What Kind of Pizza Does Young Joni's Serve?
Since opening in 2016, Young Joni has gained national recognition for its inventive approach to pizza. Lovedfood highlights one of their most popular pizzas, the Korean BBQ, which is topped with beef short rib, mozzarella, scallion, arugula, sesame, soy-chili vinaigrette.
Chef Kim and her pizza are featured in episode three of the Netflix limited series Chef's Table: Pizza.
