Guilty Plea For 2nd Rape at Grand Meadow Teenage Drinking Party

Austin MN (KROC-AM News) - A Stewartville man is scheduled to be sentenced in May for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl at a teenage drinking party about a year and a half ago.

The criminal complaint against 20-year-old Trenton Charles Robert Erickson alleged that he assaulted the girl after he had raped a 15-year-old girl at the same party at a home in Grand Meadow in late September 2022. In that case, he was accused of pushing alcohol on the teenage victim and sexually assaulting her after she became very intoxicated.

The court document says the second victim came upon the other girl "bawling her eyes out" near a shed adjacent to the home where the party was taking place. She told investigators that she became very upset and walked away after the other girl told her that she had been raped by Erickson.

The charges alleged that Erickson then approached the 14-year-old girl and indicated he wanted to speak with her, which is when she indicated the sexual assault occurred. According to the criminal complaint, Erickson admitted to investigators that he had sex with the juvenile girl. He also told a Mower County Detective that he had been drinking at the party, and that "alcohol loosens the frontal cortex of your brain essentially making you not care."

Erickson previously entered a guilty plea to a third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for the sexual assault on the 15-year-old girl and was sentenced to 10 years on probation with a stayed three year prison sentence that he could be ordered to serve if he failed to meet the terms of his probation.

On Friday, Erickson went before a judge in Mower County and entered a guilty plea to a third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for the sexual assault of the 14-year-old victim. His plea agreement includes a sentencing recommendation that calls for a maximum of six months in jail.
