Playground Equipment Heavily Damaged by Fire at Rochester Park
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Fire Department is investigating an apparent costly act of vandalism that heavily damaged a city park this week.
The Rochester Park and Recreation Department has reported that a fire broke out early Wednesday at the Parkwood Hills Park Playground. The park is located just north of Quarry Hill Park in northeast Rochester.
Photos of the aftermath of the fire show that some of the playground equipment was destroyed by the fire, which also left a park bench scorched and the surface of the playground area heavily damaged.
The Park and Recreation Department is indicating that it plans to replace the damaged equipment this summer.
Anyone with information that might assist with the investigation is asked to contact the Rochester Fire Marshal's Office at 507-328-2056 or by email at firemarshalsoffice@rochestermn.gov.
